Police pursuit concludes in collision: Juvenile driver apprehended after crash

In a series of events that unfolded early on Friday morning, an 18-year-old driver found himself in hot water following a high-speed chase in the district of Langenselbold, Hessen.

The incident began in the Wilhelm-Busch-Ring, Niederissigheim, where a black Opel occupied by several individuals was observed by a Langenselbold police patrol. The driver, in an attempt to evade the road check at the Bruchköbel police station, sped off, initiating a chase that would last for several kilometres.

The young man lost control at the "Turbo roundabout" (Friedberger Landstraße / Hauptstraße) and collided with a traffic sign. Despite the collision, he refused to stop and instead fled towards the Krebsbachaue nature reserve, driving without lights at times. The Opel sustained material damage in the incident, but fortunately, no one was injured.

Something unidentifiable was thrown out of the vehicle during the chase. Upon further investigation, it was identified as a small amount of marijuana. The 17-year-old passenger in the car is now facing a charge under the Cannabis Law (KCanG).

The driver, after a brief foot chase, was apprehended by a faster officer and placed in handcuffs. It was later revealed that the 18-year-old likely did not have a driver's license, had apparently consumed drugs beforehand, and the license plates did not belong to the Opel.

The 18-year-old driver is under investigation for driving without a license, endangering traffic, hit-and-run, and a violation of the compulsory insurance law. The youngest passenger, aged 17, was handed over to his parents.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Langenselbold police station. For press inquiries, please direct them to the Police Headquarters Southeast Hesse - Press Office, contact details for which are provided below.

The chase continued at high speed towards Roßdorf via the L3195, exceeding the permitted 100 km/h. The Opel spun and came to a stop after the collision.
