Man Arrested in Gesundbrunnen for Threatening with Imitation Firearm

A 35-year-old man was arrested in Gesundbrunnen last night following an incident at Hansastraße. The arrest occurred after the man threatened a police officer with an imitation firearm.

The incident started when the man, who has not been identified by name in the report, was disruptive for hours, shouting, playing loud music, and throwing objects around in his apartment. His behaviour escalated when he brandished an imitation firearm, causing the police to intervene.

The officers subdued the suspect and took him into custody. Upon searching his apartment, the Berlin Police Department discovered a switchblade, pyrotechnic devices, and three more imitation firearms with ammunition and accessories. The recovered weapon, along with its magazine and ammunition, was seized as evidence.

It was found that the man was initially under the influence of alcohol during his arrest. He was released after being processed and having his blood drawn, but will have to answer charges of threatening with a weapon and violating the weapons and explosives acts.

The investigation into the incident is being handled by a specialized unit from the police directorate 1 (North) and the police state protection unit of the state criminal office Berlin. All the seized items were also confiscated.

The man's arrest and the subsequent search of his apartment were part of an investigation for evidence collection, which is ongoing. It's important to note that the imitation firearm the suspect was holding was not functional.

This incident serves as a reminder of the seriousness of threatening with any kind of weapon, even if it's an imitation one. The authorities urge the public to report any suspicious activities to the police immediately.
