Police-led drug operation in Rhine district Neuss takes action against suspected drug traffickers
In a significant development, law enforcement agencies in Germany have been conducting a search operation since the early hours of this morning, as part of an extensive investigation based on the analysis of "EncroChat data", an encrypted communication system.
The operation, led by the Rhein-Kreis Neuss Police Authority, involves twelve locations spread across Neuss, Düsseldorf, and Heinsberg. The investigation targets eight men, primarily residents of Neuss, who are suspected of importing and dealing in significant quantities of narcotics and violating weapons laws.
During the raids, a large quantity of narcotics was seized, along with approximately 40,000 euros in cash. Various weapons were also confiscated during the search operation. The operation is being assisted by special forces, drug-sniffing dogs, and a currency-detecting dog.
As a result of the raids, seven individuals were taken into custody, in addition to a 28-year-old suspect wanted on a warrant. Five of the individuals taken into custody were released after processing. Two suspects are expected to appear before a judge tomorrow, August 25.
However, the search results do not provide a specific list of the eight suspects linked to EncroChat data analysis accused of importing and distributing significant quantities of drugs and violating weapons laws. Only some arrests and investigations related to EncroChat and encrypted communication cases are mentioned without naming eight particular suspects.
The group is also accused of operating cannabis plantations in Belgium and France since May 2020. The investigation involving these eight men accused of narcotics trafficking and weapons violations continues.
