Police investigation in North Rhine-Westphalia leads to arrested suspects: The Federal Police have apprehended individuals following an analysis of a video linked to a rape case.
In a significant development, a 52-year-old man from Breckerfeld was arrested by the Federal Police in Dortmund on September 2. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, is suspected of raping a young woman on September 1st.
The incident came to light when the victim reported the crime to the Federal Police station at Dortmund Central Station on the same day. According to reports, the suspect approached the victim, repeatedly asked for sexual intercourse, and when she refused, he raped her.
The suspect, who was driving a silver BMW, fled from a police traffic control and collided with vehicles during the chase. He was eventually apprehended on a vacant lot. A search conducted later revealed that the suspect had a ticket for a flight to Spain that evening.
The further handling of the case will be done by the Dortmund Police, who took over the case and accompanied the victim to a hospital. The Federal Police, however, secured all video material related to the case.
Several public prosecutors' offices had been searching for the suspect's whereabouts, and the man was provisionally arrested after being recognized by an officer who had secured video material. The arrest took place the following day, with the suspect being taken into police custody due to the risk of flight.
