Police, in conjunction with the Wolfsburg City Chamber of Commerce, seized hundreds of tobacco items
In the heart of Wolfsburg city centre, on Poststraße, a commercial property was the focus of a search operation on Thursday, August 7, 2025. The search, which took place between 11:20 AM and 4:20 PM, was a follow-up to an earlier search on Tuesday, during which several hundred tobacco products were seized.
The initial search, conducted on August 5, 2025, between 4:45 PM and 6:45 PM, resulted in the discovery of untaxed vapes and cans of snus. The search warrant for both operations was issued by a judge in Braunschweig.
The exact nature of the commercial property was not specified, and the name of the operator involved in multiple tax and tobacco law violations in 2025 remains undisclosed. However, the subsequent searches led to the initiation of both criminal and administrative offense proceedings.
The public prosecutor's office in Braunschweig was involved in the application for the search warrants on both days. The search on Thursday did not result in any reported arrests or injuries.
A 36-year-old man, who disrupted the search measures on Tuesday, was issued a ban from the premises. Despite repeated requests, he failed to comply, leading to his arrest with judicial confirmation.
The violations discovered during the youth protection control included infractions against the tax code and the tobacco products act. The man's actions during the search also resulted in a breach of the peace.
