Police halt vehicle towards Hamburg from Pinneberg North due to suspected drunk driving

On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, a drunk driving incident occurred on the A23 motorway between Lagerdorf and Pinneberg Nord. The incident involved a black VW Caddy traveling from Elmshorn junction towards Hamburg.

According to reports, the driver of the black car was seen driving in a suspicious manner, crossing lane markings and causing dangerous situations. The police received these reports at around 14:15 and located the vehicle at the Pinneberg Nord junction.

A breath alcohol test conducted at around 14:30 showed a preliminary reading of over 2.7 per mille for the driver of the black VW Caddy. As a result, the officers ordered a blood sample to be taken from the driver and prohibited him from continuing to drive.

The 59-year-old man from Schenefeld, a German citizen, will face a criminal charge for drunk driving. No publicly available information about a trial for this man has been reported since September 3, 2025.
