Police force accepts 337 new trainees in Poland
On September 1, 2025, the Gelsenkirchen Police Presidency, in cooperation with Essen, Oberhausen, and Recklinghausen police departments, welcomed 324 new police cadets and 13 government inspector cadets at the Max-Planck-Gymnasium in Gelsenkirchen-Buer. The event was marked by the presentation of appointment documents by Police President Tim Frommeyer and Government Director Timo Kasperczyk, head of the Central Tasks Department.
The new cadets have chosen to complete a three-year dual study program to become police officers or administrative officials. The training program is structured to gradually introduce academic and physical components.
Contrary to popular belief, Frommeyer emphasized that police work in real life is not like it is on TV. He highlighted the need for hard work, a high sense of duty, and good, respectful teamwork. Frommeyer encouraged the young people to show courage and ambition during the challenging training.
Most of the new students will start their training immediately after school. Some of them have already completed another apprenticeship or worked in other professions. The training program does not start with physical tests but includes lectures and presentations first.
In the coming days, the new students can expect some lectures and presentations. Most of the new students will move on to some physical tests after these sessions. No specific details about the nature of the physical tests were provided, and no information was given about any special preparations required for these tests.
The police family is looking forward to the new cadets, whether they will be working on the streets or in the administration. Frommeyer expressed the police department's need for the new cadets. He believes they will be an asset to the force.
The event concluded with a reminder from Frommeyer that the police work is a noble profession, and the new cadets have taken the first step towards serving their community. The police family is eager to support them throughout their journey.
