In an effort to combat excessive speed and reckless driving, the traffic service team of Borken County Police set up a speed trap on Amtsvennweg in Gronau. Over the past few days, they recorded the speed of 10,168 vehicles at 22 locations across the county.

Unfortunately, uninvolved road users are often affected by accidents caused by speeding in Borken County. In Gronau alone, a car was caught speeding at an alarming 146 km/h on Amtsvennweg, exceeding the maximum allowed speed of 70 km/h. In the South district, a vehicle was caught going 82 km/h instead of the maximum allowed 50 km/h on Gendringer Street in Isselburg-Anholt.

In the North district, there was a particularly serious speeding violation on Hauskamp Street in Gronau, where a vehicle was caught going 59 km/h instead of the maximum allowed 30 km/h. These accidents often result in severe consequences.

The traffic service team's vigilance paid off, as they issued one driving ban, initiated 183 administrative offense proceedings, and handed out 806 warning fines. Approximately 10% of the vehicles recorded exceeded the permitted speed limit.

The Borken County Police will continue its measurements to combat excessive speed and reckless driving in the coming week. The head of the traffic department responsible for speed traps is not publicly available information.
