Police announcement from Seesen on March 17, 2020
In a series of unexpected events, Seesen and its neighbouring towns have been shaken by several traffic accidents and suspected crimes over the past few days.
On Monday afternoon, a hit-and-run incident occurred on Bockenemer Straße in Seesen. According to the Police Inspectorate Goslar, a 16-year-old male cyclist, with black hair, wearing a red sweater, and riding a yellow bike, was involved in the accident. The police are currently seeking any information regarding this incident. Unfortunately, the cyclist fled the scene without initiating a damage settlement, causing approximately 15,000 euros worth of damage to his bike and another vehicle, an Opel Corsa.
Earlier in the day, at around 12 PM, a traffic accident occurred in Seesen. The accident at the Gaensepforte intersection on Hochstraße involved two vehicles. One vehicle was driven by a 50-year-old from Seesen, and the other by a 19-year-old from an unspecified location. The 50-year-old driver ignored the right-of-way of the vehicle driven by the 19-year-old, resulting in a collision. Two passengers (17 and 18 years old) were lightly injured in the accident.
In a separate incident, a 59-year-old from Bockenem caused two traffic accidents on Monday. The first accident occurred on the A7 motorway, while the second accident took place on the B 243 towards Osterode. In the second accident, the Bockenem driver ignored a red light and collided with a Pkw of a 34-year-old from Seesen, causing the Seesener slight injuries and significant property damage to his VW.
Meanwhile, investigations have led to the initiation of several criminal proceedings against a 23-year-old from Münchehof, who is suspected of committing several fuel thefts at a tank station on the Harz expressway, using both his own and stolen license plates.
The Bockenem driver, who was involved in the hit-and-run incident and the subsequent traffic accident, was later stopped by Seesen police officers. He was found to be significantly under the influence of alcohol, with a test result of over 1.8 promille. As a result, his driver's license was confiscated, and several criminal proceedings are expected, with the total damage estimated to be approximately 25,000 euros.
