Polestar's model 3 sports a new lineup of digital key services and is equipped with additional hardware components at no extra cost.

The Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer, Polestar, has announced exciting updates for its Polestar 3 and 4 models. The changes, set to roll out later this year, will bring about an improvement in performance, as well as an expansion of in-car entertainment options.

One of the key improvements is the transition from the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Xavier processor to the more powerful NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processor, starting from the 2026 model year. This boost in computing power will enable more sophisticated software features and enhance performance in areas like active safety and autonomous driving capabilities.

To ensure existing Polestar 3 owners don't miss out on this upgrade, Polestar is offering a complimentary hardware upgrade. Customers who purchase the Polestar 3 with the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processor before the 2026 model year will receive this upgrade free of charge.

In addition to the performance upgrade, Polestar is expanding the in-car entertainment options through Google's Car Ready Mobile Apps program. These apps, already live in the Google Play Store for the Polestar 2, will soon be available for the Polestar 3 and 4. Popular titles like Farm Heroes Saga and F1 TV are among the apps that users can look forward to.

Another significant development is the introduction of the digital key. This feature, now available through the latest over-the-air (OTA) software update, allows users to lock, unlock, and start their Polestar 3 using their smartphones. The digital key can be shared with up to five other users, making it easier for multiple users to access and drive the vehicle.

Apple users can also take advantage of this feature, as they can use their car keys in Apple Wallet to lock, unlock, and start their Polestar 3 using an iPhone or Apple Watch. Even if the phone battery is depleted, Apple's Power Reserve feature ensures that the car key remains functional.

The digital key can be shared across platforms, making it easier for users to share access to their vehicles. This feature not only enhances convenience but also fosters a more collaborative driving experience.

Polestar is committed to making ownership of its vehicles as seamless as possible. As such, customers will be notified when the new processor is available, and the installation will be performed at authorized Polestar service centers.

With these updates, Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 owners can look forward to a more powerful, connected, and convenient driving experience.
