Poland returned 15 individuals of Ukrainian origin, each repeatedly found guilty of legal transgressions
The Ministry of the Interior and Administration in Poland has announced the expulsion of 15 Ukrainian citizens, following their convictions for various crimes. The expelled individuals were forcibly taken to the border and handed over to the Ukrainian side.
The press service of the ministry reported the expulsion, stating that the measure was taken in response to the law violations committed by the deported individuals. The crimes included drug possession, theft, robbery, forgery, driving under the influence, and organizing illegal border crossings. Many of the individuals had been convicted multiple times.
One of the expelled individuals was on a list of persons whose presence in Poland is deemed undesirable. The ministry noted that the expelled individuals had been added to this list due to their continued law violations.
Karolina Galecka, the press secretary of the ministry, reiterated that Poland will not tolerate law violations, regardless of the origin of the perpetrators. She emphasized that Poland's openness to foreigners does not extend to law violations.
Galecka stated, "Poland is friendly and open to foreigners, but law violations from foreigners will not be tolerated in Poland." She also added, "We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our citizens, and this action is a consequence of the law violations committed by these individuals."
The duration of the ban on re-entering Poland for the deported individuals is between 5 and 10 years. The individuals were formally issued a ban on re-entering the country.
The expulsion was due to a perceived threat to public safety and order. Galecka reiterated that Poland will not tolerate law violations, whether they are committed by Polish citizens or foreigners.
This is not the first time Poland has taken such measures. In the past, the country has expelled individuals for various reasons, including terrorist activities and organised crime. The ministry continues to work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
