Plastic usage restricted in all Napolcom facilities
Napolcom Bans Single-Use Plastics in Offices to Promote Environmental Sustainability
In a bid to align with global initiatives such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and local government ordinances on environmental protection, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) has issued a ban on the use of single-use plastics in its offices.
The directive, signed on Aug. 28, 2025, by Napolcom Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan, aims to instill a culture of responsibility and sustainability in the workplace.
The ban applies to all central and regional offices of Napolcom and covers office activities such as meetings, training, and conferences. The use of plastic straws, stirrers, utensils, disposable cups and food containers, single-use water bottles, and plastic bags is prohibited. However, the ban does not apply to non-disposable plastics.
Employees of Napolcom are encouraged to use biodegradable materials, refillable containers, reusable utensils, eco-bags, and water bottles. All Napolcom offices have been told to review their practices to ensure compliance with the directive.
Despite the ban, no penalties or consequences for non-compliance with the directive have been stated. The specific date for the implementation of the ban was not mentioned in the memorandum.
The Napolcom directive is part of the commission's efforts to promote environmental sustainability. It is hoped that this initiative will inspire other institutions to follow suit and contribute to the global effort to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment.
At present, there is no information available about the person who, as chairman of the National Police Commission since August 28, 2025, has banned the use of single-use plastics in offices to promote environmental sustainability.
