Steelers and Cam Heyward in Contract Dispute, Rodgers Locked for Week 1

The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently embroiled in a contract dispute with franchise legend Cam Heyward, a key player on the team's defence. According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Steelers could resolve this issue by adding some cash and reachable incentives, potentially up to $3 million in bonuses, to restructure Heyward's contract.

Heyward, who has been practicing, has made it clear he wants a raise. The relationship between the team and Heyward is strong enough that it's hard to imagine him sitting out the game, but there is no telling whether he will play in Week 1 on his existing contract.

The Steelers' offense may need to play a more significant role in securing a win in Week 1, as it may take some time for the new players to gel together. The team brought in a significant number of new faces this offseason, which could impact the team's cohesion in the early stages of the season.

In a separate development, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has cautioned fans to manage their expectations before Week 1. Despite the contract dispute and the changes in the team, the Steelers are still expected to be heavy favorites against the Jets.

However, the Steelers can breathe a sigh of relief as they have secured Aaron Rodgers for their Week 1 game. The team is fully committed to the 2022 NFL season with Rodgers as their quarterback, and the team's current cap space stands at $9.9 million, with significant cap space in future seasons.

Despite Heyward's contract issue, the Steelers have a strong team with a mix of experienced and new players. The team will be looking to start the season on a high note and will be hoping for a resolution to the contract dispute with Heyward before Week 1.
