Photo camp's youngest sibling shares personal introduction:
In the picturesque town of Pforzheim, photographers and enthusiasts gathered for the first FotoCON, a one-day "little sister" to the usual three-day Fotocamp. Over 50 participants attended this event, which was organised as a response to requests to make the popular Fotocamp an annual event.
The Fotocamp runs as a Barcamp, or "unconference," with no fixed program. This year, the event was divided into the areas of knowledge, feeling, and action.
In the knowledge area, Dana Diezemann, an expert in complex matters, discussed 30 years of digital photography and future technologies. She used humorous remarks and simple visual aids to make a dry subject interesting. Fototrainer Georg Schäfer discussed photographic seeing and design, providing valuable tips for creating memorable photos.
Markus Schäenzle spoke about portrait photography under the theme of "feeling." Meanwhile, Jörg Rieger, the head of an advertising agency, showed alternatives to well-known photo editing programs. Photographer Peter Hölzle demonstrated the creation of small moving images (GIFs) using image editing software.
The feeling area offered a unique opportunity for participants. They had the chance to photograph the 360° panorama "Rom312" by Yadegar Asisi at the Gasometer at the Enzauenpark without disturbance from other visitors. One participant specifically enjoyed the opportunity to photograph in the Gasometer without other visitors.
The action area was all about learning by doing. Knowledge sharing and practical exercises created images during the Fotocamp. Michael Bender shared his passion for forgotten places and offered considerations for pursuing this hobby.
Interested parties can find more information on the event's website. The search results do not explicitly state which person or organization is responsible for organising the PhotoCONs event series. However, the first FotoCON was a success, and it's expected that future events will continue to inspire and educate photographers and enthusiasts alike.
One participant expressed enjoyment in the mix of the program and learning from morning presentations. They enjoyed the opportunity to network with other photographers and gain practical experience in the afternoon sessions. The FotoCON 2021 was a day filled with learning, creativity, and camaraderie, and it's sure to be a highlight for many in the photography community.
