Peugeot refreshes 308 with daring design, technological advancements, and extended electric vehicle range

Peugeot has announced an update to its popular 308 model, set to be available for order in Europe from November. The updated 308 family, which includes both the hatchback and SW estate, will undergo a refresh that includes design enhancements, improved technology, and expanded powertrain options.

Design Updates

The new 308 features an aggressive front-end design, with re-sculpted bumpers that incorporate larger vents for improved airflow. Slimmer headlamp clusters and a new illuminated Peugeot badge add a touch of modern elegance. The "three-claw" lighting of Peugeot is integrated into a new daytime running light arrangement, giving the vehicle a distinctive and dynamic look.

Powertrain Options

Peugeot continues to offer a 105 kW petrol hybrid and a 96 kW diesel in the updated 308, catering to a variety of driver preferences. The plug-in hybrid models now use a 193 kW seven-speed automatic system, providing a more responsive driving experience.

The electric-only range of the plug-in hybrid hatchback has improved to 85 km, while optimisations to the battery management system have extended the range of the fully electric E-308. The hatch now boasts a range of 452 km, with the SW offering 444 km on a single charge.

Technology and Safety Features

The new 308 introduces a new Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, allowing owners to power devices or appliances directly from the vehicle. The E-308 is also compatible with Plug & Charge for automatic payment at supported networks.

Inside the vehicle, buyers can expect upgraded seat fabrics and refreshed graphics for the digital instrument cluster. The new GT Premium grade offers enhanced comfort with heated Alcantara massage seats and a 360-degree camera system. The Driver Assist Plus package further enhances safety features.

Performance and Handling

The hatch version of the plug-in hybrid model accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds, 0.3 seconds quicker than its predecessor. The new E-308 also features adjustable brake regeneration with three settings, controlled by steering-wheel paddles.

Availability

First deliveries of the updated 308 are expected early next year. While plans for the Australian market have yet to be announced, the updated Peugeot 308 model will be available for order in Europe starting autumn 2025, with sales expected from spring 2026.

The redesign of the styled Peugeot 308, presented in Europe, was carried out in France, with production taking place at the Mulhouse plant. The demand from fleet operators has led to the retention of the 96 kW diesel option in the updated 308.
