Person Dressed in Batman Suit Thwarts Early Morning Break-in, Apprehends Suspect According to Authorities
In the quiet neighbourhood of Cape Coral, Florida, a local hero was awakened from his slumber in the early hours of a midweek day. Kyle Myvett, a general contractor, was roused from his sleep by a security alert, little did he know that he would soon be donning his Batman onesie for a mission that would see him apprehend a burglar.
Myvett, who is known to wear his Batman onesie as his "uniform" for a good night's sleep, quickly sprang into action. He jumped into his black Ram 2500 truck and began patrolling the neighbourhood. It wasn't long before he spotted a suspicious figure trying to enter a neighbour's garage.
Myvett roamed the neighbourhood until he found the suspect and, with a swift move, managed to detain him by grabbing him from behind. The suspect complied when Myvett told him to put his arms in front of him and sit on the concrete.
The neighbour, concerned by the commotion, called 911, and soon the Cape Coral Police were on the scene. Upon arrival, Detective Michael Scarlato commended Myvett, saying, "It's good to see 'Batman', you know, keeping Cape Coral safe."
The suspect was charged with various burglary charges, theft under $750, and is being held at the Lee County jail. The stolen items included two pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses from Myvett's glove box and other items from neighbours' vehicles.
Myvett, having completed his duty, handed the suspect over to the police and returned home. Exhausted but satisfied, he put his Batman pajamas back on, ready to take action if called upon again.
Meanwhile, Myvett's daughter, Kyrah, no longer wears her Batman pajamas, but Myvett continues to wear his onesie as his "uniform." His wife, Diana, had thrown away the mask that came with the Batman onesie in 2016, when Myvett bought it to match pajamas he had purchased for his daughter earlier.
Officers asked for a photo with Myvett after the incident, a testament to the appreciation and admiration he garnered from the community for his quick action. As the sun rose over Cape Coral, the neighbourhood breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that their very own Batman was watching over them.
