Person detained for hurling racist slurs at a woman with ethnic roots
In the early hours of last night, a disturbing incident occurred on the U5 U-bahn line in Friedrichshain. A 44-year-old man was arrested for allegedly giving the Hitler salute and making racist slurs towards fellow passengers.
The incident took place on a train heading towards Hönow from the Strausberger Platz station, around 0:40 AM. The suspect's aggressive behaviour and disrespectful remarks caused such concern that a witness felt compelled to pull the emergency brake.
As the train came to a halt at the Frankfurter Tor station, law enforcement officers approached the suspect. Despite their efforts to handcuff him, the man resisted and continued to insult officers. His hostile behaviour towards the officers and a 25-year-old passenger did not cease even after being taken to a police holding cell.
The State Protection Department of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office has taken over the further investigation. The suspect was subjected to identification procedures and blood sampling at the police station, and his actions during the incident, including the Hitler salute and racist slurs, are being thoroughly investigated.
A 38-year-old passenger witnessed and recorded the suspected racist remarks against the 25-year-old. The search results do not provide the name of the suspect arrested last night.
This incident has been escalated to the State Protection Department due to the suspect's continued aggressive and disrespectful behaviour, and the investigation is ongoing. The public is reminded to report any incidents of hate speech or discrimination to the authorities.
