People operating vehicles under the influence of drugs traversing designated walkways for pedestrians
In a startling incident that occurred on Saturday evening, a 32-year-old man found himself in hot water after driving through the Ettlingen pedestrian zone without turning on his lights, under the influence of drugs.
The chaos began when a witness, a woman, observed the man driving much too fast through the pedestrian zone. Alarmed by the man's erratic behaviour, she promptly reported the incident to the police.
Upon spotting the man, a patrol car gave chase. However, the man attempted to flee on foot, leading to a brief pursuit. Despite his efforts, the police were able to stop him.
The man's condition was clearly impaired, and a subsequent blood test revealed that he had consumed methamphetamine, amphetamine, and THC. As a result, his driving licence has been confiscated.
The man now faces criminal charges, including driving under the influence and endangering traffic. The police are still seeking additional witnesses to the incident to gather more information.
In a concerning turn of events, the man's condition deteriorated to the point that he was taken to a hospital by ambulance. The community is urged to be vigilant and report any similar incidents to the authorities to ensure the safety of all.
