Pennsylvania's Cash 5 lottery creates a new $2M millionaire overnight

A lucky ticket holder has won over $2 million in Pennsylvania's Cash 5 lottery. The winning numbers—5, 12, 19, 29, and 39—were drawn on Monday, August 11. The winner's identity remains unknown for now. The winning ticket was purchased at a GIANT Food Store on 4655 Perkiomen Ave. in Reading. It matched all five numbers, securing a grand prize of $2,019,939.50. The odds of hitting this jackpot stood at 1 in 962,598.

In addition to the top prize, 37,200 other tickets won smaller rewards through the Quick Cash option. The store that sold the winning ticket will also receive a $10,000 bonus. The winner now faces a choice: take the money as a lump sum or as an annuity. If they opt for the lump sum, federal and state taxes will reduce the payout by 40% to 60%. The Pennsylvania Lottery has a history of creating millionaires, and this latest win adds to that record.

The winner has yet to come forward to claim their prize. Once they do, they will decide between a one-time payment or regular instalments. The store that sold the ticket has already secured its bonus for the sale.
