Pedestrian and bicycle bridge on Scharnhorststraße Extension to be closed starting 25th August.
The Scharnhorststraße pedestrian and cycle bridge expansion is set to undergo repairs from August 25 to September 5, 2025. During this period, the bridge will be closed for pedestrian and cyclist use.
The company responsible for the renovation work is JOHANN BUNTE Bauunternehmung SE & Co. KG from Papenburg. The repairs aim to ensure the bridge's safety and durability for years to come.
Due to the closure, pedestrians can use the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street during the repair period. Cyclists, however, can use the roadway as an alternative route.
On August 30, 2025, the junction with Osnabrucker Straße will be fully closed for traffic. Entering or exiting Osnabrucker Straße will not be possible on this day. This closure also includes the temporary removal of the bollard on the extension of Scharnhorststraße, which will provide access to the Loitzer Landstraße.
Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to plan alternative routes on August 30, 2025, due to the full closure of the junction with Osnabrucker Straße. The allotment gardens can still be reached via the Loitzer Landstraße on this day.
Despite the temporary inconvenience, the repairs are scheduled to be completed by September 5, 2025. By the start of the new school year, the bridge will be operational for pedestrian and cyclist use as usual. The repairs are an essential part of maintaining the city's infrastructure and ensuring the safety of its residents and visitors.
