Park Chan-wook's latest film, "No Other Choice," has made a splash at the Venice Film Festival. The darkly comic treat, boasting a sensational state-of-the-nation satire, has been met with rave reviews from various critics.

The Guardian gives "No Other Choice" four out of five stars, praising it as a brilliant, bloody, and bleakly hilarious capitalism satire. Screen International, on the other hand, simply calls it a "darkly comic treat."

Critics have also taken note of the film's ensemble cast, with Indiewire awarding it an A- score and describing it as a "brilliant ensemble piece." Awardswatch gives the film a B+ score, remarking that Park Chan-wook reminds them why he's one of the best in the game.

Next Best Picture raves about the movie, stating that Park Chan-wook successfully defends his title as the most creative filmmaker alive. Fickfeast writes that No Other Choice is hilarious, heartfelt, and horrifying in equal measure.

The film, loosely based on the novel The Ax by Donald E. Westlake, follows the story of a middle-aged man named Man-su, who embarks on a job hunt after being fired from his paper company.

The producers for "No Other Choice" include Park Chan-wook, Back Jisun of Moho Film, Michele Ray Gavras and Alexandre Gavras of KG Productions, and Miky Lee, who served as an executive producer for CJ Group. CJ ENM financed the project, which is currently in post-production.

Neon has the domestic rights for "No Other Choice," while Mubi has a host of international territories. Despite this, Damon Wise finds "No Other Choice" to be fantastic fun and an endlessly surprising ensemble piece, best approached without prior knowledge.

Critics have praised "No Other Choice" as the best reviewed movie of the festival so far. Time Out gives the film five stars out of five. However, Damon Wise notes that the film loses some steam towards the end due to its trend of multiple endings.

The cast of "No Other Choice" includes Lee Byung-hun, Son Yejin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, Cha Seung-won, and Yoo Yeon-seok. Damon Wise of our website notes that Lee Byung-hun delivers a revelatory performance in "No Other Choice," comparing his comedy skills to a fusion of Mads Mikkelsen and Buster Keaton.
