Panels Municipal Corporation Extends Deadline for Abhay Yojana to September 15, Granting 90% Reduction on Property Tax Penalties
The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has made some significant changes to its property tax collection and Abhay Yojana scheme. In a recent announcement, Commissioner and Administrator Mangesh Chitale confirmed the extension of the Abhay Yojana deadline to September 15.
During the Abhay Yojana period, which initially ran from July 18 to August 30, a total of 78,045 taxpayers contributed to the collection, amounting to Rs 252.44 crore. This figure surpasses the total collection of last year (Rs 424.78 crore) for the same period, demonstrating a positive trend in tax compliance.
The PMC has also introduced incentives for timely tax payments and eco-friendly practices. Those who clear their property tax dues by August 31 will receive a 5% discount, while digital payments for property tax will earn an extra 2% rebate. Additionally, eco-friendly practices such as energy conservation, water harvesting, and waste management can earn a 2% concession.
To facilitate easier tax payments, the PMC has launched the 'Kar-Mitra' chatbot. This AI-powered tool offers real-time guidance, information, and online assistance to citizens. Taxpayers can pay their dues through the official website panvelmc.org, the PMC Tax App, or the Panvel Connect App.
Under the Abhay Yojana, a 90% waiver on penalty charges for delayed tax payments is also offered. This initiative aims to encourage more citizens to clear their outstanding taxes and contribute to the revenue of the corporation.
The extension of the Abhay Yojana deadline and the introduction of incentives are part of the PMC's ongoing efforts to improve taxpayer services and encourage a culture of timely tax payments and eco-friendly practices.
