Panasonic Unveils the Future of Video Production: The AK-UBX100

Panasonic has announced the upcoming release of its latest multipurpose camera, the AK-UBX100. Scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter of 2025, this 4K camera is being hailed as the future of video production.

The AK-UBX100 boasts a 2/3" bayonet lens mount and a flat design on all four sides, allowing for modifications with different lenses, camera heads, and mounting for robotic shooting. This versatile design caters to the increasing demand for creators to supply multiple types of content simultaneously.

One of the standout features of the AK-UBX100 is its advanced autofocus system. Designed to quickly lock on to the subject regardless of the operator's skill level or the lens used, the autofocus feature contributes to a focus on the angle of view. It allows incremental adjustment of the position, size, and speed of the target area, ensuring precise focus in various shooting scenarios.

The autofocus firmware for the AK-UBX100 will be available in the second quarter of 2026. Panasonic is also teasing a "world's first AF function" that will be available for both the new UBX100 and the previous UCX100 via firmware updates.

The AK-UBX100 shares the same core and interface design as the Panasonic AK-UCX100 4K. It can be used as a traditional box camera, a studio camera, or a remotely-controlled PTZ camera, offering flexibility to meet the needs of various production environments.

First unveiled in March 2018, the AK-UBX100 is indeed the future of video production, promising fast and stable target acquisition and a focus on the angle of view. With its advanced autofocus system and versatile design, the AK-UBX100 is set to revolutionise the industry.
