Pakistan claims wickets of opposition top order during influential semi-final spell in the County One-Day Cup
In a thrilling encounter at New Road, Worcestershire defeated Somerset by 29 runs in the 2025 One-Day Cup semi-final.
Khurram Shahzad, the Pakistani spinner representing Worcestershire this season, was the star of the match. He dismissed Tom Lammonby for nine and Lewis Goldsworthy for 10, accounting for four of the top five wickets. Shahzad's excellent figures of 4-36 from 7 overs set a new career-best One-Day Cup figure. Alongside Ethan Brookes, who took 3-16 from 2.2 overs, Shahzad was Worcestershire's joint-second-highest wicket-taker in the One-Day Cup this year.
Somerset's batting line-up struggled against the disciplined bowling attack, and they were skittled out for 141 in 29.2 overs. In response, Hampshire made 304-6, thanks to Liam Dawson's career-best List A score of 142. Yorkshire fell 18 runs short of the DLS-revised target of 254 in 41 overs, despite another hundred from Imam-ul-Haq.
In the other semi-final, Hampshire defeated Yorkshire by 18 runs. The One-Day Cup final will be an exciting clash between Worcestershire and Hampshire, two teams in excellent form.
