Pagcor slashes live sports betting fees but keeps virtual rates unchanged
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) has adjusted its fee structure for sports betting operators. The changes, approved by the board on January 8, reduce the rates for live sports betting but leave virtual sports fees unchanged. These updates will apply retroactively to billing from November 2025 onwards.
Under the new rules, live sports betting providers will now pay 15 percent of their gross gaming revenue (GGR). This marks a continued decline in rates since August 2023, when adjustments first began. Meanwhile, virtual sports betting operators will still be charged 30 percent of GGR, a figure that has not shifted since the previous update.
The decision was formally approved during a Pagcor board meeting earlier this month. While the latest changes affect live betting fees, virtual sports rates have remained steady despite an overall downward trend in the sector. Operators must now account for these adjustments in their financial records for the 2025 billing period.
The updated fee structure reflects Pagcor's ongoing review of sports betting rates. Live betting operators face a lower financial burden, while virtual sports providers continue under the same terms. The changes take effect from November 2025, with no further details released on their broader accounting impact.
