Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg Expands Training Programs

Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, located in the Grünheide site, continues to be the company's sole European factory and the largest training provider in Brandenburg. The factory, which opened around three and a half years ago, currently employs approximately 11,000 people and produces around 5,000 cars per week, equivalent to 250,000 cars per year.

The factory is currently hosting 209 apprentices and dual students, with 62 new apprentices and 17 dual students recently joining the training programme. The expanded training programs cover various fields, including industrial clerks, foundry mechanics, and for the first time this year, factory firefighters.

Environmentalists have raised concerns about the factory's location, as part of it is situated in a water protection area. However, Tesla itself, led by the plant management under André Thierig, is currently working on planning and implementing solutions to reduce environmental burdens at its Grünheide factory. These efforts include expanding photovoltaic energy use, reducing water consumption, and supporting these efforts with reforestation of more than two million trees. The factory also holds the European EMAS environmental certification as part of this effort.

In addition, 40 hearing-impaired employees have started working at the Grünheide site, joining the existing 115 hearing-impaired employees already working in various areas. The training of firefighters for the factory continues to take place at the Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg.

As the factory grows, so does its commitment to providing opportunities for young people. A total of 21 apprenticeship programs and 12 dual study courses have been expanded at the Grünheide site since 2022. This includes the training of 17 dual students who have begun their training at Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg.

The training is taking place at Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, where the company is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and diverse learning environment for the next generation of workers.
