Over a hundred and thirty steeds displayed at the Stallion Event in Moritzburg
The Saxon State Stud Administration, a central hub for horse breeding in Saxony and Thuringia, recently unveiled a new riding hall, funded from the budget of the Free State of Saxony. The state-of-the-art facility, spanning over 4,200 square meters, can accommodate 824 visitors.
The grand opening of the new riding hall was marked by a traditional stallion parade in Moritzburg, attracting hundreds of spectators. The parade, over a century old, showcased more than 130 horses, including the entire stallion population of the State Stud.
Agriculture Minister Georg-Ludwig von Breitenbuch emphasised the importance of horse breeding as a valuable cultural heritage in Saxony. He was joined by a CDU politician, who praised the Moritzburg stallion parades for their enduring appeal, captivating audiences for over 100 years.
The Saxon State Stud Moritzburg is not only a centre for horse breeding but also plays a significant role in education and training. It houses a state vocational school, nurturing the next generation of horse specialists.
Since 2007, the Saxon State Stud Administration has comprehensively modernized its grounds. The recent investment of around 27 million euros in the construction of the new riding hall is a testament to this commitment. However, no specific information about further modernization investments was provided.
The Administration also plays a crucial role in preserving the diversity of horse breeds. The parade presented a four-hour program featuring stallions of all breeds, highlighting the rich variety of horse breeding in Saxony.
The next stallion parades are scheduled for September 14 and 20, offering another opportunity for horse enthusiasts to witness the spectacle. The Administration looks forward to welcoming both new and returning visitors.
