In the heart of London, Parliament Square, Westminster, witnessed a significant demonstration last week. Organised by Defend Our Juries (DOJ), approximately 1,500 people gathered to voice their opposition to the banning of Palestine Action as a terror group.

The protest, however, was not without incident. More than 700 people have already been arrested over their expressed support for Palestine Action. The Metropolitan Police reported that nearly 900 demonstrators were arrested, with the majority, 857, being for showing support for a proscribed group.

Thirty-three arrests were made for assaulting police officers and other public order offenses, although no further information about the nature of the abuse suffered by the officers was provided. The Metropolitan Police condemned the "intolerable" abuse they claim their officers suffered during the protest.

The ban on Palestine Action, a group that advocates for Palestinian rights, was enforced in July under the Terrorism Act 2000. The organisation has since won approval from the UK High Court to challenge the ban, with a hearing scheduled later this month.

A 74-year-old woman wearing a Palestine Action t-shirt was arrested and subsequently released in Belfast last month, adding to the ongoing controversy surrounding the group's designation.

The specific leaders or leading representatives of Palestine Action who are facing trial over the ban of the group as a terrorist organization are not clearly identified in the available search results. However, it is known that nearly 1,500 people have been charged for explicitly supporting Palestine Action, indicating that multiple individuals involved with the group are under legal scrutiny.

The protest was described by organisers as "the picture of peaceful protest." Despite the escalating tensions, the demonstrators, undeterred, continue to rally for their cause, underscoring the ongoing debate and controversy surrounding Palestine Action's status as a terror group.
