In the city of Bocholt, preparations are underway for a significant upgrade to the sporting facilities. The city administration has recommended the replacement of the existing artificial turf pitch, which was created in 2006, to the local politicians.

The new artificial turf surface will cover an area of 7,500 square meters and will be suitable for both football and hockey. This upgrade will enable high-level hockey games, selection games, or corresponding training measures, which were not possible before due to the playing properties of the old surface, such as ball roll behavior and ball control.

A new elastic base layer will be created on the 7,500 square meters, upon which the new artificial turf will be installed. The old artificial turf system in several sections will be dismantled and recycled, addressing recurring issues such as holes and raised seams that have been caused by intense use over the years.

For hockey, a water-filled pitch is required, and irrigation of artificial turf is now standard on hockey pitches. This new installation will ensure that the field meets all the necessary standards for both sports.

The replacement of the artificial turf is necessary, as the surface has become increasingly worn over the years. The new installation will take place after the dismantling and recycling of the existing system, ensuring a smooth transition for the sports clubs that will benefit from this upgrade.

The new artificial turf field is being constructed for DJK Barlo, replacing the previous clay field near Vardingholter Straße/Kalkendiek. This upgrade is set to significantly improve the sporting facilities in Bocholt and provide a modern, high-quality playing surface for the local sports clubs and the community.
