Continental to Build New Hydraulic Hose Plant in Mexico
German technology company Continental is set to construct a new hydraulic hose plant in Mexico, marking a significant expansion of their operations in the country. The new facility, expected to commence operation in the second half of 2025, will be Continental's largest location in Mexico, covering over 85,000 m², equivalent to around 12 soccer fields.
The investment for this new facility is approximately $90 million USD. Continental's operations in Mexico currently employ over 23,000 employees and produce and develop automotive components, rubber products, and tires, which are exported to various countries.
The new plant will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including solar panels, process water reuse technologies, SmartFactory tools, and machinery with high automation and optimal energy utilization. This investment is part of Continental's growth strategy, particularly in the industrial hoses and hydraulic solutions sector.
The new plant, which will be Continental's 22nd plant in Mexico, is expected to generate more than 200 jobs in its first stage. The construction of the plant is planned to begin in the second half of 2024.
While the exact location of the new plant has not been officially announced yet, the USA, China, and India are considered the most likely regions based on Continental's current growth and investment strategies.
