RB Leipzig Transfers: Loïs Openda Moves to Juventus Turin, Conrad Harder Joins from Sporting Lissabon
In a series of transfer moves, RB Leipzig is set to say goodbye to striker Loïs Openda and welcome Danish midfielder Conrad Harder before the transfer deadline.
After a two-year stint with the German club, Openda is on his way to Italy, with Juventus Turin confirming the loan of the Belgian international starting on September 1, 2025. The total package for Openda's transfer is said to be well over 40 million euros, a significant sum for the striker who joined RB Leipzig two years ago for the same amount.
Openda's time at Leipzig has been a mixed bag. After a strong debut season with 28 goals, the Belgian fell short of expectations with only 13 goals in the previous season. The clubs have agreed on a loan with an option to buy later.
Meanwhile, Leipzig is set to sign Conrad Harder from Sporting Lissabon just before the transfer deadline. Harder, who scored 13 goals in the previous season and also found the net once in the Champions League, is expected to bolster Leipzig's midfield. The transfer of the Danish midfielder has not been reported by Fabrizio Romano or Sky, but it seems to be a well-kept secret within the club.
Elsewhere, Lutsharel Geertruida is leaving Leipzig and is close to an agreement with AFC Sunderland. The Dutch defender joined Leipzig last summer but failed to establish himself on the right-back position. His contract runs until 30 June 2029.
In another departure, Eljif Elmas, who joined Leipzig in January 2024 but failed to make an impact in Leipzig's 22 competitive games, is returning to SSC Naples. Elmas was already loaned out to Italian Serie A club FC Turin in the previous round.
As the Bundesliga season approaches, RB Leipzig's transfer activity is ongoing. The departure of Openda and the arrival of Harder are significant moves that could shape the team's performance in the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more updates.
