In a disturbing turn of events, a shooting incident occurred in Dijon, France, on September 6, shortly after midnight. The incident took place in a busy district, causing alarm among residents and passersby.

The tragedy claimed the life of a 23-year-old driver, who died at the scene, and left a passenger seriously injured. The shooting was described as metallic and sharp, with two men hit by gunshots while traveling in a buggy-type vehicle.

The shooting was captured on video surveillance, but no specific information about the identity of the perpetrators was provided. However, the suspects are reportedly two young men aged 17 and 18, with North African backgrounds, who are currently being sought by the police. They fled the scene on a scooter.

The shooting is being investigated as a potential settling of scores. Olivier Caracotch, the prosecutor in Dijon, stated that people are being killed in public with firearms for drug trafficking in the Dijon metropolitan area. Since the beginning of the year, the authorities have recorded three homicides and nine attempted homicides in the area.

Some residents of the neighbourhood where the shooting occurred perceive an escalation of violence. One resident, who has lived there for four years, described the shooting as more central and reminiscent of mafia-like activities. Another passerby stated that such incidents are happening everywhere, likening Dijon to cities like Marseille and Grenoble.

Alain de Senne, a restaurant owner, heard gunshots during the incident. Many passersby expressed surprise and concern about the incident. One passerby described Dijon as usually peaceful but now resembling cities like Marseille and Grenoble.

Olivier Caracotch warned against dismissing other hypotheses, as overlooking something could be detrimental. The prosecutor urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The police are actively seeking the suspects in this tragic incident.
