Online marketplace initiative by Kaufland goes live in Italy
Kaufland Marketplace Expands to Italy, Offering European Retailers a Wide Reach
Kaufland Global Marketplace, an all-in-one solution for retailers to enter the e-commerce market and expand into other European countries, has launched in Italy on September 2, 2025. This move marks the seventh marketplace country available on Kaufland Global Marketplace.
The platform, which stands for price competition and fair conditions, offers retailers the opportunity to potentially reach nearly 140 million online customers in the marketplace countries. In Italy alone, customers can now order from over 6,400 categories on the Kaufland marketplace.
Gerald Schönbucher, CEO of Kaufland e-commerce, expressed great interest from Italian and international retailers to sell their products on the new marketplace. The Italian marketplace includes over 3,000 online sellers, both national and international, with a total of more than 13,000 sellers across Europe. German merchants are particularly highlighted as being able to sell their products in Italy, as well as in other countries like Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, and France.
The Kaufland marketplace offers approximately five million items across more than 6,400 categories. These categories include Home & Living, Electronics & Computers, Garden & DIY, Kitchen & Home, Baby & Kids, Sports & Outdoors, and Fashion & Accessories. The marketplace also provides an additional sales platform for German retailers to sell their products not only in Italy but also internationally.
Kaufland Marketplace adheres to data security and European regulations, ensuring a secure shopping experience for customers. Orders placed on the Kaufland marketplace will be delivered to customers' homes.
The success of Kaufland Marketplace is evident in the countries where it has already been launched, such as Austria, Poland, and France, where it is one of the fastest-growing platforms. Retailers who sell on all Kaufland marketplaces generate an average of 50 percent of their Kaufland.de sales, especially in Eastern Europe.
Kaufland's online offering is already among the largest marketplaces in Germany, Czech Republic, and Slovakia. The marketplace is a European alternative to global e-commerce giants, operated by the Schwarz Group.
With seven marketplaces currently available as distribution channels on Kaufland Global Marketplace, retailers can now easily expand their business across Europe. The platform is set to provide millions of deals and new product ranges in Italy, making it an attractive option for both retailers and customers.
