Online Lottery Delivery Service Jackpot.com Teams Up with Associated Press
Jackpot.com recently declared that they have been chosen as the official lottery courier for Associated Press, a global news organization established in 1846.
Jackpot.com is striving to increase their customer base and reach new demographics. This partnership with the AP will broadcast lottery results on the media company's website in states where Jackpot.com operates.
Jackpot.com offers its services in six states, allowing residents to buy lottery tickets online through the company's courier service. The platform and mobile app are currently live in Arkansas, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Texas. These states prohibit their lotteries from selling online tickets directly.
CEO and co-founder of Jackpot.com, Akshay Khanna, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, "Partnering with the Associated Press as our official lottery courier and provider of state lottery results is a crucial milestone for us at Jackpot.com."
Khanna further commented, "This collaboration not only aids in providing site visitors with the most up-to-date lottery drawing results but also enables them to effortlessly and responsibly purchase lottery tickets online. We're not merely selling tickets; we're reimagining the entire lottery gaming experience."
Distinguishing Jackpot from Jackpocket
Jackpot.com is a third-party service that assists in the acquisition of official state and interstate lottery tickets for online consumers.
Currently, only nine states allow their state-run lotteries to offer online ticket sales. These states are Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Dakota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. The lottery in Washington, D.C., also permits online purchases.
Although online lottery sales are restricted to those locations, the states where lottery gaming is permissible but the state lotteries don't facilitate online ticket sales usually don't have laws preventing courier services like Jackpot.com.
Jackpot.com and its primary competitor, Jackpocket, utilize couriers in the states in which they operate and purchase the tickets on behalf of online customers. These platforms charge a commission on account deposits — 15% for Jackpot.com and 7% for Jackpocket — but do not charge a fee on winnings or withdrawals.
Jackpot.com claims to provide a more secure lottery platform because of its heavy investment in responsible gaming procedures.
Jackpot.com is the only business in the US to receive the iCap Responsible Gambling Accreditation from the National Council on Problem Gambling. The certificate is awarded to online gaming firms with established measures for online gambling player protection.
Extending Beyond Lottery Tickets
Jackpocket, which Jackpot.com competes with, was acquired by DraftKings last month for $750 million. This acquisition by a sportsbook and online casino operator is an attempt to potentially decrease customer acquisition costs. The idea is that DraftKings can convert some online lottery players into internet casino gamblers and sports bettors.
Apart from Jackpocket and Jackpot.com, other significant online lottery courier companies include Lotto.com, theLotter, and Mido Lotto. There are 17 states where these lottery courier services are functioning in an unregulated online environment.
In Illinois last night, a lucky participant won a $552 million Mega Millions jackpot, the ninth-largest prize won on the lottery game.
