Onleihe 3.0 launches with smarter search and flexible borrowing options

The Onleihe Niederrhein digital lending service has rolled out a major upgrade to its platform. Onleihe 3.0 brings a refreshed design, better search tools, and new borrowing options for users across the region.

The upgrade introduces a modern interface with improved search and filter functions. Users can now extend loan periods or return items early, giving them more control over borrowed media. Access is available through the Libby app, the website libbyapp.com, and compatible e-book readers.

During the transition, the system will be temporarily offline. Once back online, existing login details and borrowed items will remain linked to user accounts. However, those using the old Onleihe app must uninstall it and download the free Onleihe 3.0 update from their app store. Alongside the upgrade, a new platform called OverDrive Niederrhein has launched. It specialises in English-language titles but also includes books in Dutch, Ukrainian, and German. The service focuses on current audiobooks and foreign-language novels. For anyone needing help, the library team provides support in person, by phone, or via email. The Stadtbibliothek Mönchengladbach was among the first to adopt the new system, launching it on 12 March.

The upgrade to Onleihe 3.0 simplifies digital borrowing with a streamlined interface and flexible loan management. Users can now access a wider range of media, including foreign-language titles, while retaining their existing account details and borrowed items.
