Ongoing search for witnesses following a traffic mishap in Blumenberg
In the early hours of Monday, August 25, a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Blumenbergsweg and Mercatorstraße in Cologne-Blumenberg. The accident involved an Audi A3, which was heavily damaged and abandoned at the scene.
Emergency services were quickly called to the scene, initiating extensive search operations for the presumably injured driver. Despite the efforts of the police, including the use of a helicopter and tracking dogs, the driver has remained missing.
The identity of the driver is currently under investigation, and witnesses who have information about the fleeing driver or the accident are asked to contact the investigators of the Traffic Commission 2.
Investigations are also ongoing to determine if the Audi A3 involved in the accident was stolen from the Longerich district before the incident.
The damaged hood and bent guardrail discovered at the intersection are part of the evidence being secured by the Cologne Traffic Accident Recording Team, who are currently at the scene.
Blumenbergsweg is closed for traffic accident recording, and the police are still seeking any witnesses who can provide information about the accident.
If you have any information that could help in the investigation, please contact the investigators at 0221 229-0 or by email at [email protected].
The bus driver found the damaged hood and guardrail at around 4:45 AM, and the search for the driver or passenger of the heavily damaged Audi is still ongoing.
