Omaha implements a novel traffic communication network

In a bid to keep Omaha moving, especially in the fast-growing downtown area, the City of Omaha has partnered with digital traffic management solution provider Causeway one.network. This partnership aims to modernize Omaha's approach to road safety and improve traffic flow.

Hannah Adeponu, the parking and mobility manager for the City of Omaha, emphasized the importance of getting accurate information out quickly during planned detours or unexpected road closures. The partnership with Causeway one.network is a significant step towards achieving this goal.

The technology, known as Live Link, was launched in Omaha during the College World Series in June. It has already proven its worth, helping visitors and locals navigate the city safely and efficiently. Live Link was used to manage traffic across public works projects, police emergencies, and major events like the College World Series.

Real-time lane closures were provided on high-traffic streets through Live Link. For instance, during the closure of the on-ramp to Interstate 480 at South 29th and Farnam Streets, Live Link was used to detour users around the closures. Similarly, during the College World Series, Live Link was used to dynamically activate and update closures, ensuring smooth traffic flow.

One of the key benefits of the partnership, according to Adeponu, is the reduction of driver frustration and improvement in safety. Real-time updates will be delivered to the travelling public through the partnership, ensuring that drivers are always informed about traffic delays and road disruptions.

The city plans to use the technology to communicate road disruptions effectively, reducing confusion and improving safety on Omaha's roads. Users can view traffic delays in real-time from their choice of navigation app, making it convenient for everyone.

As the city continues to grow and develop, this partnership is expected to play a crucial role in managing traffic and ensuring the smooth movement of vehicles. The partnership between the City of Omaha and Causeway one.network is a significant step towards a safer and more efficient Omaha.
