Ohio State football prospect Arch Manning delivers impressive first half against San Jose State, responding to recent controversies
Arch Manning Shines in Bounce-Back Performance for Texas Longhorns
In a turnaround from his season-opener against Ohio State, Arch Manning, the highly-touted quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, delivered a strong performance against San Jose State. This bounce-back was much-needed, as Manning's initial game left much to be desired.
Coach Steve Sarkisian, the man leading the Longhorns, praised Manning's progress, stating that the young quarterback is learning to find comfort and trust with his receivers, particularly against good defenses. This was evident in Manning's Week 1 performance against Ohio State, where he struggled with certain crossing routes, resulting in a sidearm delivery, which is not his usual style. However, against San Jose State, Manning showed marked improvement.
Manning completed 11-of-18 passes for 180 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception during the first half against San Jose State. This performance was a significant improvement from his disastrous showing in Texas' season-opener against Ohio State, where he completed 17-of-30 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Notably, Manning's first touchdown pass was an 83-yard throw to Parker Livingstone. However, much of Manning's production against Ohio State came late in the fourth quarter, with Texas trailing by two scores.
The loss to Ohio State bumped Texas from a preseason No. 1 ranking down to No. 7. But the team bounced back against San Jose State, winning the game 38-7. They had a 28-7 lead at halftime.
Arch Manning, the nephew of NFL legends Eli and Peyton Manning, and the grandson of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning, expressed dissatisfaction with his Week 1 performance against Ohio State. However, he learned a valuable lesson from the game about the importance of bringing his feet to throw the ball and trusting his receivers in real games.
As the season progresses, fans will be eager to see how Manning continues to grow and develop as a quarterback. His talent is undeniable, and with the support of Coach Sarkisian and the rest of the Longhorns, Manning is poised to lead the team to success.
