Imam-ul-Haq Eyeing Pakistan Test Recall After Impressive Form for Yorkshire

Imam-ul-Haq, the Pakistani opening batsman, has been making waves in England's domestic cricket circuit, with his impressive performances for Yorkshire potentially earning him a recall to the national Test side.

In the 2025 One Day Cup, Imam scored a total of 688 runs, culminating in a fourth century in the competition. His average stood at an impressive 98.28, a testament to his consistent form.

Imam's deal with Yorkshire was initially for the remainder of the season, and he signed as a replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad. His impact was evident in Yorkshire's semi-final against Hampshire, where he scored a resounding century off just 96 balls.

However, Imam hasn't played Test cricket for Pakistan since 2023. Now, Pakistan selectors are reportedly keen on him translating his Yorkshire form to domestic cricket in Pakistan to break back into the Test side.

In the ongoing Hanif Mohammed Trophy, Pakistan's first-class competition, Imam is playing for Multan. His performances in this competition could be crucial in determining his chances of a Test comeback.

Meanwhile, in the semi-final of the Hanif Mohammed Trophy this week, Hampshire set Yorkshire a target of 305 to progress to the final. Liam Dawson of Hampshire scored a rescuing century from No.5, scoring 142 off 116 balls. Unfortunately, no other batter for Yorkshire could match Imam's performance, with none scoring more than 30.

As the season progresses, cricket fans eagerly await to see if Imam's form will indeed secure him a spot in the Pakistan Test side for their series against South Africa in October.
