Oberburg mayor inaugurates the 52nd Summer Festival at Grugahalle venue
The Summer Festival at Grugahalle, a cherished event in Essen's living city culture, returned for its 52nd edition on August 15th, 2025. This annual celebration has become Essen's most popular family festival, attracting guests from the city and surrounding areas.
Organised with much passion by the Interessiertenverein der Schausteller mbH, the Summer Festival offers a funfair atmosphere filled with music, culinary delights, and a diverse program. In addition to food and drink stalls, fairground rides, games, and children's merry-go-rounds are available, making it a wonderful meeting place for people of all ages.
This year's festival saw over 60 showmen contribute with their attractions, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees. The flea market at this year's Summer Festival was particularly noteworthy, being the largest of its kind in Germany.
Kevin Kerber, a member of the Interested Society of Showmen mbH, plays a vital role in the organisation of the Summer Festival. The Interessiertenverein der Schausteller mbH, which represents the interests of showmen and event exhibitors, is the sole organisation behind the festival.
The Summer Festival at Grugahalle is more than just an event; it is a symbol of unity and joy of life in the city of Essen. It is a testament to the city's vibrant culture and the passion of its residents, who come together to create a memorable experience for all.
