New York City FC (NYCFC) is set to return to the Bronx after a winless two-game road trip, as they prepare to face the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. The timing of Ismael Tajouri-Shradi's return couldn't be more advantageous, as two of NYCFC's next three opponents are first-place Atlanta United FC and fourth-place Orlando City SC.

Tajouri-Shradi, who has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury, made a significant impact in his return last Saturday, scoring the equalizer for NYCFC against Los Angeles FC in the 75th minute. With his full-time return, NYCFC will be at full strength for the first time in a while.

David Villa has been holding the fort in Tajouri-Shradi's absence, scoring three goals in his last three games. However, the return of Tajouri-Shradi will provide him more practice complementing the veteran captain. Jesus Medina will also provide assists from the midfield, along with Tajouri-Shradi and Villa.

NYCFC (6-2-3, 21 points) is looking to ride the renewed energy provided by Tajouri-Shradi's goal against Los Angeles FC last Saturday. The match against the Colorado Rapids is a welcome reprieve for NYCFC after five consecutive games against playoff-contending teams.

The Colorado Rapids, currently 11th in the Western Conference with a record of 2-5-2 and 9 points, are struggling in the MLS regular season. NYCFC, on the other hand, has a better record than the Colorado Rapids so far, with just one loss at home during the MLS regular season in the past year.

David Villa will be honored on Saturday for surpassing 400 career goals. Fans can expect a special atmosphere at Yankee Stadium as they cheer on their team and celebrate Villa's achievement.

With Tajouri-Shradi's return, NYCFC's key players capable of playing the ball into the opponents' net will include established attackers and creative midfielders. Though specific names from the 2025 squad are not directly listed, typically, NYCFC offensive contributors include forwards and attacking midfielders known for assists and goal involvement.

Tajouri-Shradi has scored four of his five goals in a starting spot, with the other goal coming as a substitute against LAFC. As NYCFC looks to solidify their position in the standings, the return of Tajouri-Shradi is a boost that could make all the difference.
