Nvidia CEO's visit to TSMC was not about delivering a message from Trump, according to TSMC's denial.

In a recent turn of events, Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, visited Taiwan on August 22. The visit, which lasted approximately 13 hours, was not a secretive mission as speculated by some reports, but rather an internal speech at TSMC's research and development centre in Hsinchu City.

The visit was invited by TSMC, and Huang spoke to TSMC executives during his stay. The reports suggesting that Huang's trip was aimed at pressuring TSMC to share profits on behalf of the Trump administration have been dismissed by both Nvidia and TSMC.

The magazine Mirror Media had reported a possible arrangement between Nvidia, AMD, and the US government regarding AI chip sales and controlled product sales in China. However, it's important to note that these claims have not been confirmed, and there have been no previous discussions about equity participation between TSMC and the US government.

The report by Mirror Media also suggested that this agreement was in exchange for approval to sell controlled products in China. TSMC, on the other hand, communicates smoothly with the US government, and as stated by TSMC's chairman C.C. Wei on August 22, the US government will not take shares in TSMC.

Furthermore, the report by Mirror Media claiming that Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD) had agreed to hand over 15 percent of revenue from artificial intelligence (AI) chip sales to China to the US government has not been verified. The visit by Huang was not for the purpose of sharing profits, as claimed by Mirror Media.

It's also worth mentioning that as of last month, Nvidia is the world's largest company in terms of market capitalization. During his visit, Huang attended Morris Chang's belated birthday celebration, underscoring the strong ties between the two tech giants.

In conclusion, while speculations about Jensen Huang's visit to TSMC have been rampant, it's crucial to maintain factual accuracy. The visit was for an internal speech, not to pressure TSMC chairman C.C. Wei or to share profits, as claimed by various reports. The accuracy of these claims by Mirror Media has not been confirmed.
