Nurse Carla features in the latest revival of "Scrubs."
The popular medical comedy "Scrubs" is set to make a comeback, with original cast members Judy Reyes, Zach Braff, and Donald Faison reprising their roles. The news of the reboot was announced earlier this year and has been a hot topic in the U.S. entertainment industry.
Judy Reyes, who played Nurse Carla Espinosa in the original series, will return for the reboot. Her participation was initially uncertain due to her concurrent role in the crime comedy "High Potential." However, it seems she has found a way to balance both roles.
The "Scrubs" series, which aired for seven seasons from 2001 to 2010, will be rebooted and will air on ABC in the U.S., the same network as the original series' final seasons. In Germany, the series was previously broadcast on ProSieben.
The deal for the reboot was agreed upon by Zach Braff and U.S. network ABC in May. Braff will reprise his role as John Dorian (J.D.), the central character of the series. Faison will also return as surgeon Christopher Turk.
The scriptwriters (showrunners) of the new "Scrubs" season produced in the United States for the 2025/2026 TV season are Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra, who also serve as executive producers. Bill Lawrence, the series creator, will serve as an executive producer as well.
The original "Scrubs" series aired for seven seasons, with the first season on NBC and the remaining seasons on ABC. The reboot is expected to follow a similar pattern, airing initially on NBC before moving to ABC for the remaining seasons.
The return of "Scrubs" has been reported by U.S. entertainment site "Deadline." Fans of the original series are eagerly awaiting the reboot, hoping to catch up with their favourite characters once again.
