Nuremberg Old Town Festival 2025: A 17-Day Cultural Extravaganza

The Nuremberg Old Town Festival is set to return for its 2025 edition, promising a grand celebration spanning 17 days from September 19th to October 5th. This year's event, despite facing financial struggles, will still offer a rich tapestry of cultural and entertainment highlights.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the charming ambiance of the historic old town, where traditional Franconian specialties will be served in picturesque half-timbered houses. The festival will be a feast for the senses, with a diverse music and cultural program, a funfair offering entertainment for the whole family, and historical-themed performances.

One of the program highlights is the Fishermen's Spear Fighting, a traditional spectacle scheduled for September 20th and 27th at 2 PM. This event, a thrilling display of skill and precision, is not to be missed. For the younger visitors, there's another program highlight: face painting, available on Hans Sachs Square on September 21st from 2 to 4 PM, and again on an unspecified date.

The festival will also feature the traditional beer tapping, a cherished tradition that will take place on September 19th at 5:30 PM. Music lovers can look forward to concerts like "Good Times Tonight" by Albert Koch Trio and "Trommelfeuerwerk" by Scala Tympani. The Shanty Choir of the Nuremberg Water Police will also perform on September 24th.

The festival prides itself on being barrier-free, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the festivities. The festival taverns will be open daily from 12 PM to 11 PM (Sundays to Thursdays) and from 10:30 AM to extended hours in the evening (Fridays and Saturdays).

Unfortunately, due to financial difficulties, the large parade through the city will not take place during this year's festival. However, the celebrations will still take place in the historic old town, specifically on Schütt Island and Hans Sachs Square.

The Nuremberg Old Town Festival 2025 aims to provide an unforgettable experience for all who attend, showcasing the city's rich history and culture in a fun and engaging way. So mark your calendars and join us for this exciting event!
