NOWEDA Pioneers Zero-Emission Drug Deliveries with Electric and Hydrogen Vans
NOWEDA, a German pharmacists’ cooperative, has become the first in the pharmaceutical wholesale sector to test zero-emission delivery vehicles. The company is now using two Opel Vivaro-e transporters—one battery-electric and one hydrogen fuel cell—designed for temperature-controlled logistics. The handover took place at NOWEDA’s Essen headquarters, marking a step toward greener pharmaceutical distribution.
The two advanced transporters were officially handed over by Andreas Kunkat, Head of Key Accounts at Stellantis Germany. NOWEDA’s responsible executive, Karl J. Paulweber, oversees the cooperative’s pharmaceutical services, which support pharmacies across the country.
The introduction of these vehicles allows NOWEDA to test emission-free logistics while maintaining strict temperature controls. If successful, the trial could set a precedent for sustainable pharmaceutical transport across the industry. Both Opel and NOWEDA will monitor performance as part of the ongoing evaluation.
