Norsk Tipping appoints Trond Bentestuen as next CEO
Norsk Tipping has named Trond Bentestuen as its new chief executive officer. The announcement comes after interim CEO Vegar Strand took over from Tonje Sagstuen’s departure. Bentestuen’s exact start date remains unconfirmed.
Bentestuen currently leads Norwegian home improvement retailer Maxbo. Before this role, he served as CEO of discount grocery chain Rema 1000. His earlier experience includes leading Norsk Rikstoto, a betting and gaming company.
Norsk Tipping’s chairwoman, Sylvia Brustad, highlighted Bentestuen’s extensive management background and personal strengths. She expressed confidence in his ability to guide the organisation.
The incoming CEO emphasised his commitment to understanding Norsk Tipping’s diverse stakeholders. These include customers, sports organisations, volunteers, cultural groups, and the company’s owners. He also supports the exclusive model, which balances social responsibility with customer needs.
Bentestuen plans to focus on responsible gaming and preventing gambling addiction. At the same time, he aims to maintain efficient operations to maximise revenue for charitable causes.
Bentestuen will take over from interim CEO Vegar Strand, who stepped in after Tonje Sagstuen’s resignation. His leadership will shape Norsk Tipping’s approach to balancing profit, social impact, and responsible gambling. The company has yet to announce when he will officially begin his role.
