In the heart of Italy, the picturesque town of Rieti played host to a significant cultural event - the "Festa del Sole". This annual celebration, a 50-year-old tradition, attracted visitors from near and far, including a delegation from Nordhorn, Germany.

From July 13 to 16, 2018, Nordhorn's Mayor, Thomas Berling, led the Nordhorner Delegation to Rieti. The purpose of the visit was to participate in the 50th "Festa del Sole" celebration.

The festival, a significant cultural event in Rieti, included various activities such as competitions on the Velino River, art exhibitions, and musical performances. One of the art exhibitions featured works by Reinhard Prüllage, a Nordhorn resident, who was invited to display his art in the Rieti town hall during the festival.

The visit was not just about attending the festivities. A working session was held to discuss the further development of the eight-year-old twinning partnership between Nordhorn and Rieti. The delegation's attendance at the "Festa del Sole" signified international participation in the event.

Rieti, besides Nordhorn, maintains twin city partnerships with Sebnitz (Germany) and Montivilliers (France). It also has ties with Saint-Pierre-lès-Elbeuf in France and Ito in Japan. The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to meet friends from Rieti and other twin cities, making the experience particularly enjoyable.

The "Festa del Sole" in Rieti is not only a prominent cultural event in Italy but also a symbol of the strong bonds between Rieti and its twin cities.
