NKY Water District, Campbell County celebrate $5.5m water main extension project
A major water supply project in Campbell County has brought reliable drinking water to nearly all homes in the area. The Subdistrict HB expansion, completed in 2019, added over 6.5 miles of new water mains and improved access for dozens of households.
The $5.5 million project wrapped up ahead of schedule in October. It extended water mains along eight key roads: Blangey Rd, Enzweiler Rd, Gunkel Rd, Pond Creek Rd, Poplar Thicket Rd, Rifle Range Rd, Upper Lick Branch Rd, and Oneonta Rd. These upgrades allowed 91 additional households to connect to Northern Kentucky Water District’s (NKWD) public water system.
Funding came from multiple sources, including federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grants, Cleaner Water Program grants, and local contributions. The combined investment ensured the project’s completion without delays. With the expansion now finished, nearly 98% of Campbell County homes can access clean, safe drinking water. The improvements mark a significant step in the county’s infrastructure development.
The Subdistrict HB project has expanded water access to more residents while strengthening local infrastructure. The new mains and road upgrades provide long-term benefits for Campbell County’s growing communities. Officials have confirmed the system is now fully operational.
