Nissan and its luxury brand, Infiniti, are gearing up for an exciting future with several new models set to hit the market in the coming years.

The rugged midsize SUV, the Xterra, is making a comeback in 2028. Nissan executives confirmed the return of the Xterra at a national dealer meeting in Las Vegas. The new Xterra will be built at the Nissan plant in Canton, Mississippi, and is being designed as an affordable, rugged SUV, similar to its predecessor. The SUV will launch with a tall, upright grille and distinctly square headlights.

Nissan is also working on a new hybrid V6 engine for the Xterra, which is expected to offer up to 75 miles (121 km) of all-electric range. However, this has not been officially confirmed yet. The new Xterra will ride on a body-on-frame platform, shared with future Nissan and Infiniti models.

The new Xterra is not the only vehicle Nissan is working on. The redesigned Frontier, Pathfinder, and Infiniti QX60 are expected to share the same body-on-frame platform as the new Xterra.

Meanwhile, Nissan is developing a fourth-generation Rogue, slated for release in 2027. The new Rogue will feature a reshaped V-shaped grille and a full-width light bar across the rear. It will also debut with the third generation of Nissan's e-Power system.

The new Rogue will serve as the basis for a new Infiniti model, badged as the QX50. Nissan Americas chairman Christian Meunier stated, "We are laser-focused on product [and] we are just getting started."

In addition to the new Xterra and Rogue, new iterations of the Nissan Sentra are in the works. The first of these new Sentras could arrive as early as next year.

Nissan's financial situation remains delicate, and the company is planning to roll out several new vehicles in the coming years to help turn its fortunes around. With the return of the Xterra and the launch of several new models, it seems Nissan is taking a bold step towards a brighter future.
