Nigeria Inks Key Cybersecurity Agreement with Kaspersky

In a significant move towards safeguarding Nigeria's digital future, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has partnered with global cybersecurity giant, Kaspersky Global. The collaboration was formalized during GITEX Nigeria 2025 in Lagos.

The partnership, aimed at bolstering Nigeria's cybersecurity, is a crucial step in the digital resilience agenda. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Director General of NITDA, and Chris Norton, the General Manager for Africa at Kaspersky, were both present at the agreement sealing.

The collaboration combines international expertise with local commitment, with Kaspersky offering strategic advisory services to help NITDA establish robust cybersecurity frameworks and standards. Kaspersky will also provide training programmes to build local cybersecurity expertise in Nigeria.

One of the key aspects of the partnership is the joint public awareness campaigns. The Cybersecurity Alphabet initiative is one such campaign, designed to educate the public about the importance of cybersecurity and how to protect themselves from potential threats.

The partnership further strengthens Nigeria's cybersecurity landscape by facilitating intelligence sharing on potential cyber threats and attacks impacting Nigerian citizens, institutions, and infrastructure. This collaboration will undoubtedly improve national cyber defence literacy through collaborative research and analysis.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his support for this partnership, aligning it with his priority of reinforcing national security for peace and prosperity. This partnership is a significant milestone in Nigeria's digital resilience agenda, marking a new era of cybersecurity protection for the country.

It's important to note that this partnership does not involve any advertisements. The focus remains on strengthening Nigeria's cybersecurity landscape and safeguarding the digital future of the nation.

As the world becomes increasingly digital, partnerships like this one are essential for ensuring the security and resilience of our digital ecosystems. Nigeria, with this partnership, is taking a proactive step towards a more secure and prosperous digital future.
